Rehabilitation of 47-49 Montgomery Street

Two three-story, mid-nineteenth century Italianate style townhouses located in Baltimore’s Federal Hill National Register Historic District rehabilitated in 1981-82 for residential usage in accordance with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation. Both structures achieved “Certified Rehabilitated Structure” status to qualify for investment tax credits, and the project was cited in the National Park Service’s Technical Preservation Brief #14, New Exterior Additions to Historic Buildings: Preservation Concerns, as an example of a historic structure with a compatible contemporary addition.
